What’s the catch? Do I have to pay/donate to participate?
There is no catch. This campaign is not about raising funds. All you have to do is commit to say Nishmas.
Priority-1 initiated this campaign because we are passionate about helping people strengthen their emunah and develop a strong connection with Hashem. We have noticed a wonderful increase in awareness of Hashem’s absolute control over the world during the coronavirus pandemic. We want to ensure that the strides we have made on a communal level continue even after the crisis ends. That is the sole purpose of this campaign.
When should I say Nishmas?
Each person should say Nishmas when they feel that the salvation they were hoping for has arrived. This may be when your shul re-opens, when you find a job, when your children go back to school or when a loved one comes home from hospital. The crisis is affecting everyone in different ways and each person’s personal yeshua will be different. However, we will also be suggesting to recite Nishmas when we, with the advice of doctors and Rabbonim, feel that the crisis has passed.
How do I know if this segula is real? Is it endorsed by any Rabbonim?
This advice is brought down in the Kaf Hachaim in the name of Reb Yehuda Hachossid. It has been endorsed by leading Rabbonim throughout the generations as a practical way to overcome difficult situations.
Is saying Nishmas just for men? Or can women join too?
The campaign is for anyone who wants to take positive action to help achieve a personal or communal salvation during this challenging period. Gender and age are irrelevant.
Do I have to say Nishmas with a minyan?
The idea is to say Nishmas in a ‘public’ setting – when there are other people around to hear. This could mean saying it with the members of your shul as a tzibur on Shabbos, together with a group of other ladies, at a small celebratory kiddush or even with your family around the Shabbos table. Everyone can do what works for them.
I’m hesitant to make the commitment but I would like to receive the content. Can I still join?
You can make a commitment to say Nishmas bli neder. There is no expiry date on your commitment. You will receive reminders along with the content we send and you can say Nishmas even once the campaign has ended.
